A web and desktop application designed for managing and backing up online address books and directories.

In November 2019, just before starting a new project using React, Node.js, and GraphQL, I had two weeks of free time before beginning. I seized this opportunity to deepen my knowledge of GraphQL and Apollo by developing a small personal application.
Thus, Carnet was born—an application that works both on the web and in a desktop version. For the desktop version, I used Node Webkit (NW.js), a runtime engine based on Chromium and Node.js. Node Webkit allows the creation of native applications for Mac, PC, and Linux using web technologies like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, while benefiting from the power of Node.js modules.
Carnet was designed to be a simple and effective address book management application, with a set of key features that facilitate easy contact management. Here are the main characteristics of the application:
Account Creation: Users can create a free account to start saving their contacts online.
Contact Management: Carnet allows users to add, edit, and delete contacts. Each contact can be enriched with various information such as geolocation, a profile picture, phone number, date of birth, etc.
Customizable Themes: The application offers two display modes to suit user preferences: a light mode and a dark mode.
Contact Organization: Users can organize contacts by creation date or name and use a quick search filter to find a contact by name.
Birthday Reminders: A useful feature of Carnet is sending notifications to remind users of a contact's birthday.
The Carnet project not only allowed me to gain in-depth familiarity with GraphQL and Apollo but also to create a functional application that can serve as a foundation for more complex projects in the future.
