Automation of data collection from Chatra.io instant messaging, with optimized processing and storage in a MongoDB database.

Chatra.io is a modern chat and instant messaging solution. As part of their artificial intelligence project, xBrain uses Chatra to manage communications. However, since it’s a third-party service, they need to migrate the data to their own MongoDB database. To achieve this, they opted for a web scraping solution.
Web scraping involves techniques for automating the extraction of data from a public website, avoiding the tedious manual copy-pasting process. It can be implemented using several programming languages, such as Python, Node.js, or Ruby. Since the project is based on Node.js, xBrain chose Puppeteer, a Node.js library known for its simplicity, open-source nature, and its ability to handle single-page applications (SPA). However, setting up efficient web scraping requires strong command-line skills, proficiency in JavaScript, and an understanding of the HTML DOM structure.
XBrain is a French start-up founded in 2012, based in Silicon Valley, known as the developer of the conversational service technology Satisfaction.AI and a leader in the field of natural language processing and speech recognition.
